That SAP Business ByDesign Time management business scenario covers all aspects of managing your employees’ time data. It enables you to create time accounts and time account rules, reusable time models and work schedules. It has features to track and monitor the various time tracking options. It enables the evaluation of the recorded times and the period-end closing as well as the transfer of account balances.

Scenario overview

The “Time Management” business scenario simplifies the day-to-day work of time administrators, as it enables them to work reactively. In the Overview view, you can view alarms and items in the worklist, work proactively with the information contained in the Tasks view, review and change employee time data, and manage time accounts, including balance adjustments and payouts. Time management is essential for a complete HR system. It is relevant if you want to run payroll and compensation in your HR system. It can also be run on its own, for example if you just want to manage the project data recorded in the timesheet.

Business process: Define planned working time

The Set Planned Working Time business process enables you to set the planned working time of your employees in accordance with the requirements and guidelines of the company and in accordance with country and industry-specific regulations in order to support absence management and accounting processes. As part of the process, you can define reusable daily, period and schedule models that can then be assigned to employees as predefined work schedules. Alternatively, an individual work schedule can be defined directly at the employee level, but this cannot be assigned to other employees.

Business process: edit time accounts

The Edit Time Accounts business process enables you to set up an automated periodic build-up and deduction or an ad-hoc build-up and deduction for time accounts to facilitate absence and entitlement management for time management, payroll, and financial accounting.

Business process: record employee times decentrally

The business process Record employee times decentrally enables the recording of productive work times as well as absence and project times of your employees, which can be followed by optional approval processes. It also enables the monitoring and evaluation of the recorded times and their transfer to subsequent processes.
Project times can be recorded for both internal and cross-company projects.

Business process: evaluate employee times

The business process Assess employee times enables you to assess recorded time data online. Breaks can be deducted from the recorded productive times either according to the specified break times or after a certain number of hours worked. In addition, the system can automatically calculate overtime and generate an overtime allowance, which is either offset by absences or transferred to the payroll service provider. Daily, weekly or monthly overtime thresholds can be used for the overtime calculation.
